I can almost smell the turf

…astroturf, that is! Of course I’m sure they have much newer high-tech stuff than that at the Tokyo Dome!

And how nice that the people of Japan can see Major League Baseball games. I sure with the people of New England could say the same! Then again, with the price of everything over there, I’m sure it’s the same arm-and-leg you’d have to pay if you were crazy enough to try and see a game at Fenway Park.

But wait, they drive on the left side of the road, so maybe it’s the opposite arm-and-leg.

Someone told me the Red Sox chartered a jumbo jet and fans could buy a package with hotel and game tickets for thousands of dollars. Yikes! Kind of reminds me of when I used to go up to Toronto and see the Sox play the Jays at SkyDome. Except without people having sex in the winows, I mean. Ahh, mem’ries! :)

And for the record, this has to mark the first-ever time I’ve been able to watch the opening pitch of the season — what with school and work and stuff. Maybe in college, come to think of it, I could have been free at 1:05 in the afternoon, but certainly not in the past couple decades. It was kind of nice!

The Sox went ahead just before I headed for the office but were trailing by the time I got to my car — huh? They scored two more just before I started this post. And now they’ve managed to pull off a win after giving up another run in the bottom of the 10th. Too bad for Dice-K that he didn’t get credit for the win, but that’s one for the team, anyway!

Cheap not always = Good

I keep meaning to take a picture of the signs under those golden arches.

“Two sausage muffins for $3″ -or- “Two filet o fish for $3″

Yes, you do get to pick your poison!

You’ve heard of predatory lending… well this is predatory vending!

And it’s one of the reasons I’ve had to give up not just the fast food, but as a rule, and one I’ve been good at following, I don’t eat meat before noon anymore! Those sausage muffins and burritos and biscuits — they’re just way to yummy!

So why is it these companies are trying to kill us? That’s what I want to know!!

Two things, OK maybe three

::tap::tap::tap::

is this thing on? OK, maybe not as much as it should be, but I’ve got two things to say I never thought I ever would…

Thing One: I ran five miles this morning! I took a couple days off because 1. I gave blood on Thursday so I didn’t run on Friday and 2. I slept late yesterday and, long story, I just didn’t get a chance to run later.

Thing Two: When I got done running, I was a little surprised that I had sweated out about three pints of water… But fair’s fair — I always weigh myself after my morning run, just to keep things more or less equal. And when I weighed myself this morning, I was down 90 pounds! I know, it was just temporary, since I drank some water to make up for all of the sweating… But still, 90 pounds!! :)

And I know I haven’t been around much, here or visiting around or anywhere… but I’ve been working on this project and it’s been kind of all-consuming. One of these days maybe I’ll share it but for now it’s hush hush, you know?

Uggh, now what??

OK, I’m an idiot.

I had Kentucky *and* Arizona in my final four.

I’m so embarassed.

And I needed to win, too.

Uggh! Double uggh!!

Thursday Thirteen #80

If I can think of thirteen things that are bugging the crap out of me, they’ll be a TT post. Otherwise, they’ll just be me ranting.

1. People that don’t cool down after their workout and worse, when they are all sweaty and they just towel off and don’t take a shower and go back to work.

2. People leaving their stuff all over the locker room while they work out instead of putting it in a locker.

3. People who repeat what I’ve just said, as if it was their very own idea.

4. The expression “do the needful.”

5. Not having a cell phone signal inside the building where I work.

6. Feeling like I have to put five bucks in the powerball pool every time the jackpot gets really big, even though I can’t really afford it.

7. Having to use a little adapter thingy to plug headphones into my phone/PDA.

8. License plates that just say the kind of car like “MY93BUICK.”

9. People saying “back-slash” when they just mean “slash.”

10. People sticking their noses where they don’t belong like in my business!

11. Really loud sneezes. OK, I’m reaching now.

12. People walking up to my office door, looking in, turning around, walking away. Yes, someone just did that!!

13. Oh yeah — that wordpress plugin that grabs your latest post — I will find a way to defeat it! :)

Forgivin’ Levin

I never thought I’d forgive U.S. Senator Carl Levin (D-MI) for his repeated attempts to scuttle the New Hampshire Primary.

But since he’s 100% right in saying that Iraq should fund its own reconstruction, I think it’s time to make peace.

Talk, don’t walk!

This whole situation in Ecuador has me most puzzled.

Maybe I’m just naïve, but shouldn’t there be MORE diplomatic relations in the world and not LESS?

Tag, I’m it!

I haven’t had much time for a welcome-me-back post, but that will still have to wait — I’ve been tagged by Nina to do the Book Meme!

Here’s what you have to do…

Pick up the nearest book. Open to page 123. Type the fifth sentence on the page.

And here’s what I got…

Related Items: location.pathname property; document.location property; string objects (Chapter 9).

Anyone want to guess what kind of book it was? Be specific!

And then tag, you’re it! :)
