Thursday Thirteen #62

1. I can’t think of a theme, so another random list it is!
2. Guess what — I have a date with Angel tonight!
3. OK, not really — I have to call her about horse stuff.
4. I am really, really nervous, though!!
5. According to USPS.com, my eBay item is in the mail room!
6. I’ll pick it up on my way out of the office.
7. Maybe I’ll get a chance to play around with it tonight!
8. Did I even mention what in the world I bought? Hmm.
9. I’m off to play softball now, see you when I get back!
10. Well I’m back, did anybody miss me?
11. There was this acrobatic plane flying over the field!
12. I stopped at the grocery store to buy some baby carrots.
13. The store I usually go to has zippy-lock carrots, but not these.

Favorites meme

Stolen from Renee Darly

TIME OF DAY: 5 a.m. when I’m the only one up and have the world to myself.

DAY OF THE WEEK: Saturday. I work plenty, but at least it’s for me.

SEASON: Fall. The crispness and the colors.

HOLIDAY: Groundhog Day. Because nobody really celebrates it, poor thing.

BEACHES: I don’t like beaches. If I had to pick one, there’s this private island in French Polynesia we went to on a cruise — boy, that was a long time ago!

SONG: The Green Fields Of France by Dropkick Murphys Dropkick Murphys - The Warrior's Code - The Green Fields of France

FLOWER: Purple lilac. They’re nice enough to look at, but they smell wicked awesome!

TALK SHOW: The Daily Show with Jon Stewart — does that count?

MOVIE: All-time favorite? I think I have to pick The Blues Brothers The Blues Brothers

SOAPS: I’m a Caress man.

BEVERAGE: Red wine, a Merlot or Shiraz.

FRUIT: Apple. No, banana!

SNACK: Cheesy poofs, I think I have to say.

FOOD: Indian food. It’s nicely spicy but not in a hot way. Yum!

RESTAURANT: Bosacki’s Boat House in Minocqua Wisconsin. Right on the water, have some fish and chips and beer. Very relaxing.

One, two, three…

Today’s one of those days with three games — one for each kid.

And it’s one of those rare Saturdays that I get anything at all done, let alone three things. I fixed a broken screen on the porch, I fixed the back steps that were loose and wiggly, and I replaced one of my license plate light bulbsthat was out.

I even got my 30-minute workout done and went to the dump.

All this after sleeping really late — until 6 am!!

The one sour note of the day is that when I made up the lunch cooler, I thought I threw in a package of turkey and one of ham, but it turned out to be two hams.

But not so much as a dime will leave my pocket today, and that’s the way I like it.

will today be the day

will today be the day
heart bursting open
secrets hidden
too much to hide
treasures buried
how many lifetimes
waiting and saving
will today be the day
heart broken open
feelings revealed
nothing to hide
given away
will today be the day

And another!

And then there was the free lunch. I know, it’s very strange, two in one day. Kind of a celebration, the lunch was. At a local Chinese restaurant. The dreaded word is buffet. Plump ravioli thingies full of pork. Noodles, nice and greasy. General somebody’s deep fried chicken in sauce. And something else in a gravy. And egg rolls, yes, those too.

Not.

I ordered from the menu. I selected the sushi and sashimi plate. Fabulous fishes all for me.

Me. Super me.

Never before…

I did something this morning I can say with some certainty I have *never* done before.

Free breakfast at work for a meeting. Steam tray full of sausages. Yummy ones, I know — I’ve had them many times before.

Took some eggs, took a scone, walked right on past the sausages. Yay me! :)

Thursday Thirteen #61

1. I have a new shaver. It’s so much faster than my old one! What will I do with all of that extra time in the morning?

2. I also bought a non-facial hair trimmer. What, TMI? Nah, there will not be any pictures.

3. The weather is so nice. I always say that fall is my favorite season, but you just cannot beat those first beautiful days of spring!

4. I don’t even mind that I’m going to have to mow the lawn this weekend!

5. I’ve been rating all of the A-List songs in my iTunes. 140 down, 105 to go!

6. Wifey noticed the other day that I’d lost weight.

7. I dunno, I guess I’d rather she notice or say something about how hard I work.

8. I bought something on eBay the other day and haven’t heard from the seller yet. I hate that!

9. I suppose it will just show up in the mail room. But still, an e-mail is required, I think.

10. Damn, I should have saved that for my ever-growing pet peeve list!

11. Or maybe I should just sprinkle them about like MSG to enhance the flavor of every post.

12. I just got back from softball, so now you know when I wrote my TT!

13. Or maybe you didn’t. Wednesday lunch-time, that’s when. So does that mean there will be a crowd of Uisce-seekers at the field next week? Bring it on! :)

Kudos to XM

When I’m not listening to my A-list, I’m listening to XM. Music, news, comedy — they’ve got it all, including my favorite channel — yes, C-SPAN!

::screeeeeech:: (yes, feel free to make a screeching car sound) ::crash::

Yesterday I was listening and something wasn’t quite right. Maybe my antenna is messed up. What could it be? The signal keeps crapping out on me. I started to call them up and find out, and I was on my mobile and got caught in phone menu hell, so I had to hang up.

Well this morning I woke up to an e-mail from them!

There was an update before noon, and then about ten minutes ago, I heard from them again…

Can you believe it? They informed us, they updated us, they apologized to us. What kind of company do they think they are?

A good one. That’s what kind they are.

Kryptonite on sale, 2/$3!

How do they sell kryptonite? By the sheet? Maybe ground up into a powder? Can you make tea from it and give it to your super nemesis?

Mine comes wrapped in paper — open the paper and you find a layering of baked goods, numerous protein sources and dairy substances. My kryptonite is more commonly known as the Sausage, Egg and Cheese McMuffin. It’s available throughout the galaxy wherever you see those golden arches. And right now they’re two for three bucks.

They are my ultimate weakness. I could eat, well, both of them. And only spend $3.24 with tax. It’s probably enough calories for a whole day — can you imagine feeding yourself for an entire day for $3.24? Wow! But no, of course there would be a lunch and a dinner, too. And therein lies a world of trouble.

That was the old me. The new and improved Uisce has found a way to eat less. The old me and the new me — we both see something yummy there. The new me just chooses not to eat it.

It’s complicated but it’s working. And I’m feeling super.
